FAQ on the B. Comm (Accounting)
What exemptions are available for the B. Comm (Accounting)?
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) grants B.Comm (Accounting) students exemption from all four papers in their CA Proficiency 1 examination. B. Comm (Accounting) students will cover more than half of the syllabus for CA Proficiency 2 and therefore we have recently applied for exemption from 2 of the 4 subjects in CAP 2 for our graduates. However the granting of exemptions is at the discretion of the ICAI and has not been decided as yet.
See our current exemptions page for more details of exemptions from other professional accounting bodies.
What exemptions are available for the mainstream B. Comm if I take the accounting stream in third year?
ICAI grants mainstream B.Comm students, who have taken relevant accounting options throughout their degree, exemption from all four papers in their CA Proficiency 1 examination.
